About Prayatna at Pune

Prayatna is an NGO registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act and is based in Pune. It is an Independent Training Centre aimed at helping people with special needs become competent and confident young adults. This local NGO works with children, young adults, and adults with varied challenges like Autism, Cerebral Palsy, learning difficulties, etc. No one is refused admission, regardless of Economic background or type of disability. Prayatna NGO believes in helping the participants achieve Valued Social Roles in modern society. Their new Project Swayam was started in January 2021. The project targets training of Adults with Special needs from the employability viewpoint. The training modules will include Hospitality, F n B, and Admin skills. Support this Pune-based non-profit NGO to help them run more projects to support differently-abled children and adults.

Founder's vision & message

Prayatna, Pune was founded by Mridula Das Radiya Gohil Nafisa Khambata. Here's the vision of this non-profit: "PRAYATNA-for People with Special Needs, was started in 1997 to cater to the needs of children and adults with moderate to severe disabilities. Stressing on ABILITY rather than DISABILITY Prayatna provides ‘services with a difference’ – creative and multifaceted learning experiences as opposed to the monotony of ‘Sheltered Workshops’. Teaching methods are totally individualized, drawing from both conventional and alternative methods. Existing Facilities: Special School for Intellectually & Physically Challenged Children & Adults Vocational training for Intellectually & Physically Challenged Adults Sensory Care for Severe/Profound Challenged Children & A Adults Swayam To present opportunities to challenges adults and young adults to learn livelihood skills. To infuse confidence & self-esteem through work & learning opportunities. To build awareness for parents, siblings, and volunteers.
